It's a recurring problem; it's not your fault.

With Ren'Py, importing via a text file has never worked for me. I've tried it with dozens of games on different devices, browsers and platforms, though. You need to use the Ren'Py import/export menu (the ≡ in the top-left corner of the Ren'Py window), which is what you're already doing. Unfortunately, it only works for 9 out of 10 games. For the latest versions of Ren'Py (version 7.6 and 8.1 and above), if the developer has not deleted this option, you can transfer your latest save file via the game's save/load menus (On the game's Gamcore page, open the previous version of the game, load your save, open the Save menu, and click 'Export'; make a note of the code provided by Ren'Py; on the game's Gamcore page, switch back to the latest online version, go to the game's Load menu, click 'Import', and enter your Ren'Py code when prompted).

For other games (HTML, etc.), always choose the import/export option built into the game, if available. Personally, when I've used the Gamcore method via the txt file, I've always got completely random results. I get the feeling it's more down to luck (if you're lucky, it'll work; if you're unlucky, it'll crash the game and you'll have to wait for the next update; if neither, it won't work but it won't crash the game either).

Gamcore / "Downfall: A New Beginning" - Can't transfer game saves

My saves are into v0.02.0 of the game. I don't have any saves in the other versions of the game.

Despite that, I nevertheless followed your instructions to the letter:
• I clicked on "Other Versions".
• I selected "Downfall: A New Beginning (Old)".
• Then I clicked on "Export Saves from Downfall: A New Beginning (Old)".
• I was redirected to the download page, and I clicked "Export all game saves" to download the save file (gamcore-downfall_a_new_beginning_202606010449.txt).

Unfortunately, this file is completely empty and is only 2 bytes in size. So, I went through the process again with each version of the game. Unfortunately, no matter which version I export, I always end up with a completely empty file that's 2 bytes in size.

Note: The attached file is the export of "Downfall: A New Beginning (Old)". Files exported from the other versions of the game are exactly the same as this one.
