Game Saves

I lose my game saves every time a game is updated. I've been playing Ren'py games. I've tried the export/import option in the Ren'py player which provides the zip file. When I import, I get all saves have been imported, put them nothing is there. I've tried the other methods with the txt file and the same thing happens. I get a successful import message, but them nothing is there. (side note here, my txt file seems empty. When I open i notepad the only thing in the file is {} )

I use Chrome with Windows 11. I've tried updating Chrome. I've tried Edge. I've tried the Gamcore browser, but nothing seems to work. I am at a loss, please help.
